Jobs for a Java developer: search and automatic applications
Java is the language of big systems: banks, telecom, e-commerce, outsourcing projects for Western clients. Experience and an understanding of architecture count here.
What job posts ask for most
- Java 17+ and Spring Boot
- Microservices, Kafka or RabbitMQ
- PostgreSQL, Hibernate/JPA
- Docker, Kubernetes, the cloud
- Tests (JUnit, Testcontainers), code review
How to set up filters in AutoApply
Set Java and Spring. Add Kotlin with "at least one skill" if you are open to it.
Stop words in the job title drop what does not fit you: for example "Android" if you do backend, or "Lead" if you are looking for a middle role for now.
A short sample letter
The employer reads the first lines, so the letter must be short and concrete. A sample the AI adapts to each job:
"Hello! The Senior Java Engineer role caught my eye. Six years with Java and Spring Boot, the last two on Kafka-based microservices for a delivery platform, about 40 services in Kubernetes. Happy to discuss the details."

A sample CV
A short one-page CV that gets past the first look. You can build one in the AutoApply CV builder in 10 minutes:
- Title: Middle Java Developer
- Summary: 4 years with Java and Spring Boot, microservices for banking and telecom.
- Experience: BankTech, 2021 to now: moved payments into a separate service with Kafka, and peak-time outages stopped.
- Skills: Java 17, Spring Boot, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, JUnit.
- English: Intermediate.
Interview questions
- How does HashMap work, and what happens on collisions?
- How does @Transactional on a method differ from a class, and when does a transaction not apply?
- What is the N+1 problem in Hibernate, and how do you fix it?
- How do the garbage collector and JVM memory work at a basic level?
- How would you split a monolith into services?
Practise answering out loud: a mock interview with AI for the exact job.
Tips
- Describe the scale: number of services, load, team size.
- English is often decisive: state your level honestly and keep an English CV.
- For senior roles mention the decisions you made, not only the tasks.
